Yebo Wins

Privacy and POPIA

The short version: we collect as little as we can, we tell you what a promoter will get before you enter, and you can have it deleted.

Who we are

Yebo Wins lists competitions run by other companies. For most listings we hold nothing about you at all, because entry happens on the promoter's own site. Where we host an entry form, we are the responsible party for the information collected on it, together with the promoter running that competition.

What we collect

If you create an account or enter a competition we host: your name, email address, mobile number, date of birth and province. Optionally, your town and what you do for a living, and your industry if you work.

We ask your date of birth to confirm you are 18 or older. Most competitions require it, and it stops us collecting a child's details by accident. Where you live and what you do help us show you competitions you can actually enter, since many are limited to a region or aimed at particular people. The optional fields are genuinely optional: skipping them changes nothing about what you can enter.

If you enter a hosted competition: the answers to that competition's entry fields, plus the date, your IP address and your browser's user agent. Those last three exist so a disputed entry can be checked.

Why we collect it, and consent

To run the competition you entered and to pass your entry to that one promoter. That is the purpose, and we do not use it for anything else without asking separately.

Marketing consent is always separate from entry consent and never pre-ticked. You can enter without agreeing to any marketing. We store the exact wording you were shown at the time, so if a consent is ever questioned we can show what you actually read.

Who it is shared with

The promoter of the competition you entered receives your name, contact details, age, province and town, which is what they need to run the draw and reach a winner. They do not receive your full date of birth or what you do; those stay with us.

We do not sell entrant data or pass it to other promoters.

Dibs Daily. Dibs Daily is our sister deals site. If, and only if, you tick the box that names it, we share your name, contact details, age, province, town and what you do with Dibs Daily so it can send you its deals. That box is optional, never ticked for you, and separate from entering anything. You can withdraw it at any time, and it is not needed to enter a competition.

Analytics, advertising and cookies

The first time you visit, we ask before switching on analytics and advertising cookies. Until you choose Accept, Google Analytics and AdSense run without setting those cookies. You can change your answer at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found us, so we can make the site better. It sets cookies and records things like your browser, device, rough location and the pages you view. It does not receive your name, email or anything you type into a form. You can block these cookies in your browser, or opt out entirely with Google's opt out add-on.

We show ads from Google AdSense, which pays for the site. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google's ad settings, and read how Google uses this information in its partner sites policy.

Where it is stored

Your information is kept in a database hosted by Neon in Frankfurt, Germany. The site itself, and images uploaded for competitions, are hosted by Netlify. Sending it outside South Africa is allowed under section 72 of POPIA because the European Union's privacy law gives it at least the same protection, and each of these providers is bound to keep it secure and use it only to run this site.

Your rights

You can see everything we hold, correct it, withdraw any consent, or have your account deleted. The first three you can do yourself from consent and privacy. For deletion, email us.

If you are not happy with how we have handled something, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
