A surprising number of competitions you will find online closed months ago. Four checks before you spend time entering.
Find the date in the terms, not the post
Social posts get scheduled, reshared and screenshotted long after a competition ends. The terms and conditions carry the date that counts.
Check the time, not just the day
Most South African competitions close at 23:59 on the stated date, but not all. Some close when a store closes, or at midday.
Check whether entries are capped
Some competitions close early once a number of entries is reached. The terms will say so if this applies.
Check the draw date too
Closing and drawing are different dates. Knowing the draw date tells you when to expect contact, and makes it obvious when a winner message arrives suspiciously early.
